HOA Dues and City Services

From time to time questions arise about the use of homeowners’ association dues to contract for City services. The homeowners’ association does not have the authority to contract for City services. Besides, we already pay for these services through our taxes.

The 311 City of Columbus Call Center is a very effective resource when it comes to addressing concerns related to City property or services such as street lights, posts, signs, street trees, waste, recycling, yard waste collection, street sweeping, snow removal, etc. You may submit a request for service by contacting the City of Columbus at 614-645-3111 or by visiting 311.columbus.gov.

Architectural Review: Driveways

If you are considering driveway replacement, please refer to the Village at Thornapple Homeowners’ Association Community Handbook.  The Architectural Review application process ensures compliance with the community design standards specified in the handbook.  The City of Columbus defines zoning standards.  As an example, a two car garage may have a driveway only up to 20′ in width.  It is the homeowner’s responsibility to meet compliance with the Columbus Building and Zoning Department.

If you are considering altering or building something on your property, please contact the Department of Building and Zoning Services. You can contact the office at (614)-645-7433, 614-645-8637, or at [email protected]
