ANNUAL GARAGE SALE

It’s that time of year to clean out closets and get your garage organized.   The Community garage sales will be held on Friday, June 10th and Saturday, June 11th from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm for those that wish to participate.   The sandwich board signs will be at the entrances for advertising.  I will also post the sale on Nextdoor and Craigslist but please feel free to post on any other group sites to get the word out!

EASTER EGG HUNT – THANK YOU

Just like the postal carrier, neither rain, snow, sleet, or hail could keep the Easter bunny away.   We had 48 children along with their parents and grandparents brave the cold to attend our annual egg hunt.

A BIG thank you to the handful of families who generously donated candy and prizes to make it a successful and fun-filled event.   Also, a BIG thank you to everyone who volunteered their time that day

If you were unable to attend and didn’t get to sign up but wish to donate for next year’s hunt, please contact Susan Wood at [email protected] to be added to the list.

Village Easter Egg Hunt

The annual Easter egg hunt will be held at the community park on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 PM.  This fun event is for children ages 1 – 10 who live in the Villages at Thornapple.   The Easter bunny will be there for picture taking!!!

Make sure you bring a basket or other container to use while gathering eggs.  In case there is rain on April 9th, we will hold the Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 16th.

Since our HOA dues cannot be used to fund any social activities, we are asking for help with candy donations or small prizes.   Please make sure all candy is wrapped and will fit inside the plastic egg.  If you wish to donate, please contact Susan Wood at (614) 853-0666 to arrange pick-up by March 26th.
Thank You

Social Committee – looking for volunteers

We would like to find neighbors willing to join, help plan, and execute the social/neighborhood events” we currently do within the neighborhood. If you are interested in being part of the Social Committee and helping with current events and brainstorming/developing new events to get to know others in the neighborhood please reach out to John at [email protected] and in the subject line put “Social Committee”. We’d like to convene a meeting in the next several weeks to begin planning for future events. Next on the calendar is the Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 9th (we need a teenage volunteer (bunny suit is pretty small) to be the Easter Bunny) and the Yard Sale are the next recurring events we usually already do.

We have extended the nomination deadline – please submit your nomination today! See the tab – “Board of Directors Application”.

Last year the entire board changed, all 7 board openings were filled for the first time in many years. Due to Covid and no annual meeting, these vacancies were filled by appointment and not done via a traditional election.

This year per our bylaws, all 7 of these openings will now be filled via our normal annual meeting. The bylaws for these vacant openings have a provision that states we elect 3 board members in odd years (in this special case for a 1-year term) and 4 board members in even years (and for their normal 2-year term).

The annual meeting of the Village at Thornapple Homeowners’ Association will be held Sunday, February 6, 2022 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.  Please note the new location for the meeting this year- Columbus Public Library, Lincoln Village Shopping Center, 4740 W. Broad St, Columbus OH 43228.

Vehicle break-ins in VAT

There have been several vehicle break-ins this week in the community.  Please lock your vehicles and avoid keeping valuables in them.  Police reports have been made for some of the current incidents.  Please make a report if any of your vehicles have been targeted and let’s try and keep an eye out to keep our neighborhood safe.

Coyotes spotted in the neighborhood

Coyotes have recently been spotted in a couple different areas of the neighborhood.  Most coyotes will avoid people and can be easily scared away with motion activated yard lights and/or loud noises. We’d like to make as many neighbors aware as possible in case you see them or tend to let your pets out unattended.
